Metal Injection Molding parts (MIM parts) are the metal parts which are injection molded similarly to a good deal of plastic or other polymer items.
Metal injection molded (MIM) parts are small, complex metal parts that are produced using the MIM process. The MIM process involves mixing metal powders with a binder material to form a feedstock, which is then injected into a mold cavity using an injection molding machine. After injection molding, the parts are debound and sintered to remove the binder and fuse the metal particles together.
MIM parts can be made from a variety of metals, including stainless steel, titanium, copper, and more. They are used in a wide range of industries, including automotive, medical, electronics, and consumer products.
MIM parts offer several advantages over traditional metal forming techniques such as casting or machining, including the ability to produce highly complex shapes and features, with high precision and consistency. MIM parts can also be produced at a lower cost compared to other methods for small to medium volume production runs.
Examples of MIM parts include gears, connectors, surgical instruments, and firearm components.
